A heavy fuel cell truck with proven commercial operation in New Zealand.

The New Zealand XCIENT combines two 90 kW fuel cell stacks, a 72 kWh battery and a 350 kW electric motor. Seven tanks carry approximately 32.09 kg of hydrogen at 350 bar.

NZ Post has used an XCIENT for freight movements within Auckland and between Auckland and Hamilton. Its local operating record makes it one of the strongest starting points for modelling heavy-fleet hydrogen demand.

The 8.02 kg/100 km calculator value is derived from full tank capacity and published range. It is not a measured route average.

Using This Profile

Actual consumption will change with gross combination mass, route elevation, speed, weather, auxiliary loads and driving pattern. A mixed-fleet calculation should use telematics from the intended route whenever it is available.
