Data Sheet
GBV / Auckland Transport
Fuel Cell Bus.
A New Zealand-built three-axle bus with published operating data from its Auckland trial.
GBV designed and built the 13.45 m bus in Christchurch for Auckland Transport. It carries up to 78 passengers, stores a maximum of 30 kg of hydrogen at 350 bar and uses a 45 kWh battery to regulate power from its Ballard fuel cell system.
Auckland Transport reported an initial telematics average of 8.44 kg/100 km. This measured value is a stronger calculator starting point than a figure derived only from tank capacity and estimated range.
The temporary trial refueller limited fills to 22 kg even though the vehicle could store 30 kg. Fleet modelling must distinguish station fill limits from vehicle tank capacity.

Evidence and Notes
Using This Profile
Auckland Transport's 2023 report records initial consumption around 8.17–8.49 kg/100 km and an average of 8.44 kg/100 km. Later fine-tuning is described ambiguously in the report, so the calculator profile retains the clearly stated average rather than interpreting the uncertain later figure.
